OUR PEDAGOGICAL PROJECT
The theoretical framework of our pedagogical project seeks to bring together concepts and questions raised by education theorists with the vivid and lived experience of our daily training with the youth of Mário Campos. In this way, we raise the following concepts as immanent to the practice of Lanternas Inspiradoras:
Collective Intelligence:
Term coined by philosopher and educator Pierre Lévy, it defines, in general terms, a form of sustainable thinking, of social connections, which integrate “intelligence”, mediated by technologies, enabling solutions that are only possible with the contribution of many. Lévy considers that cyberspace enhances the constitution of a collective intelligence, which does not belong to an individual, or is the privilege of a group, it is a condition of humanity. With an experience based on technological training, the concept of collective intelligence at Lanternas takes effect in a work and learning environment in which different “intelligences” operate to achieve a certain object or objective, and which takes as an integral part of this process, as a tool and as a product: technology.
ENGAGEMENT PEDAGOGY:
Progressive and holistic pedagogy, which emphasizes well-being. Enthusiasm is a powerful element in this pedagogy. With the specificity of considering that enthusiasm for ideas is not enough for engagement, there must be enthusiasm for each other. Each member of the group, with their history, their expertise, their strengths and their weaknesses, becomes a fundamental element. Everyone's presence must be recognized. It is the realization that everyone contributes, which leads to a learning community. “Enthusiasm is generated by collective effort,” says bell hooks.
Ubuntu Philosophy:
The African philosophy Ubuntu conceives a society structured on respect and solidarity. It rescues the importance of relationships and the collective, admitting that it is impossible to think about the good of the individual, without considering the common good. “I am because we are”, the central message of the Ubuntu philosophy, essential for the development of the educational model chosen by Lanternas.
Pedagogy of autonomy:
This is a line of thought in education theory developed in the book with the same title, published by educator and philosopher Paulo Freire. Divided into three chapters, the book brings, by naming each of these parts, the three central concepts of the Pedagogy of Autonomy: there is no teaching without learning, teaching is not transmitting knowledge and teaching is a human specificity. Concepts such as protagonism, criticality and autonomy are rescued in this pedagogical conception as essential dimensions for the student, for the full development of their learning. From this perspective, it is up to the educator to encourage the student to think for themselves, to make their choices, to know themselves.
